Human Buidling Interaction

This course aims to introduce indoor environment and the role of buildings/building systems from the human-centered perspectives. Specifically, this course is intended to teach

• Four categories of indoor environment (thermal, lighting, and acoustic environments and indoor air quality),
• Systems of the human body,
• Relationships between indoor environment and humans - e.g., comfort, productivity, stress, and health, and
• Roles of buildings/building systems.

This course will introduce the state-of-the-art research efforts to advance the interaction between humans and buildings. Also, this course will put energy on the table to address the importance of building energy efficiency and sustainability. Lastly, the students will learn how to set up environmental monitoring systems and analyze indoor environmental quality.
